shareprice.co.uk - an update

What started out as a small R&D project is rapidly growing in to something quite exciting.  The project has already proven a new equity data feed sufficiently well for us to be rolling it out on to iii.co.uk during December.  This will fix a number of data accuracy issues we’ve been having over the last months.

What’s pleasing though is that shareprice.co.uk is clearly serving a useful purpose for over 3,000 registered users now.  Further, we’re seeing encouraging signs with regards to site usage and visit time - already ranking in the top 15 (Hitwise) for visit time within our sector, peaking on some days in the top 10 - with only a number of transactional spread betting / CFD services above us.  For an ‘information only’ site that’s pretty impressive.

The iPhone application is also going great.  Released to the UK iTunes store three weeks ago it is already ranked in the top 7 most popular finance applications. Much of the feedback is being included in the forthcoming v1.1 release - which also will include streaming US equities.  The app I’m pleased to say will also be available worldwide from this version.

Also due to be launched this week is the SharePrice Android app.  Android being the name of the operating system powering the ‘Google Phone’ , or in the UK,  T-Mobile’s G1.    Similar to the iPhone app, it will be the first application in the Android MarketPlace to offer share prices for the UK and US markets. I hope.  If we get our skates on.

For those who have waited patiently for :-

- a fix to the chart in ‘Advanced’ on IE

- a streaming intraday chart

- certain stocks to stream (such as ticker: OIL)

I thank you.  Not long now !
