Medal Protest!

As ever, we can rely on the vocal protest from some of our users following changes to the site.

So, whilst many of you have welcomed the introduction of medals in discussion boards (more here); a number have raised concerns about them providing a false sense of security / offering credibility to the holders who are posting. Whilst they have been favoured by most users, of course it wouldn’t be true to suggest everything they write is correct.

Other feedback suggested the medals impact on the overall page layout.

So, to avoid this potential confusion, we have removed them. The leage table will still be available and of course you can verify the status of any user on the bulletin boards by clicking on their nickname and choosing one of the links that appear underneath.

The ‘New’ icon for users who are posting but registered within the last 30 days will remain.

    Re: Medal Protest

I appreciate your efforts to make this a more interesting and importantly a more dynamic place to visit.

Obviously you can’t keep everybody happy all of the time, but I think some people always need aomething to gripe about.

Well done anyway on providing an excellent website.

I don’t use your trading services, because I think it is not allowed, where I am normally in domicile.

I welcome the suggestion to remove medals. However, one useful addition will be stick share price at the time of posting the comment. Though this is not very helpful in reading recent comments, it is extremely handy to read a comment in the context of historic price, when reading an old post.

    Phillip,

“some people always need something to gripe about.” How can you write that about considered and invited comment?

To gripe is to whinge or moan. I didn’t see that in the response posts, only measured and objective views.

You vented your spleen earlier this evening on the RBS board, now get back to your normal form as I enjoy your posts along your views from afar.

    Regards,

Empty drums make the most noise.
Its a shame when a few people can get a good idea taken away because those few scream loudest. fact is that for every one poster that complained I expect that one hundred did not…
Thats the way this country seems to work.
