Wanna be Web 2.5?

So you want to be Web 2.0?

Well obviously the thing to do is get yourself referred to as Web 2.5 (take a look at the web trends map at Information Architects Japan to see what it takes) by getting ahead of the game - whatever the game’s meant to be.

How does a company like Interactive Investor get to be referred to as Web 2.5, or even Web 2.0, in the present climate? Well, what if it allowed its users to start trading stocks and funds between themselves? That would be Web 2.0 or 2.5 or whatever, wouldn’t it?

User A’s got some VOD.L he wants rid of and User B is interested. Now, User B’s got too much Glaxo and he knows User A is sniffing about for some at the right price. So they do a deal and exchange via a trading board on iii.co.uk and bingo it’s all Web 2.0, 2.5, 2.75.

Boy would those boards get busy: “I’ll give you x for y of your Gartmore China Opps and let’s discuss my Apples and Nokias.”

And on and on…

Not terribly regulation friendly but no one said a revolution was easy. We’ll get there one day.

And how we going to make money someone asks? Well that’s a very Web 2.0, 2.5, 2.75 kinda question and I’m sure someone will shout ADVERTISING. (Clever advertising mind.)
